A heartbroken construction foreman who tried valiantly to save his 26-year-old son broke down Friday as he recounted the fatal accident in a railroad tunnel 120 feet below Manhattan.
“I watched it happen, and I tried to save his life, and I couldn’t,” sandhog superintendent Robert O’Brien told the Daily News.
“It was a bad scene,” the father said, his voice choked with emotion. “I’m not really capable of talking about it right now.”
