For 54 years, the gate at Bridges Juvenile Center clanged shut behind troubled youth, confining them to a hulking concrete lockup plagued by fights and abuse.
But  city officials slammed the gate on Bridges Wednesday and celebrated its  permanent closure, using an oversized, ceremonial padlock to shutter  the infamous Hunts Point facility formerly known as Spofford.

M.  Slavin & Sons, a prime tenant at the Bronx’s New Fulton Fish Market  has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, citing a tidal wave of debt. The  100-year-old wholesaler to restaurants and supermarkets is headed by  octogenarian owner Herb Slavin, a fish market icon.
